A WOMAN who objected to removing her clothes in a police cell spat at one police officer and bit a second on the arm.

Ewetina Binkoska, 31, had been arrested on suspicion of assault but had never been charged with that.

However at the time in October last year police wanted her clothing for examination.

Two female officers tried to persuade her, in the end she was restrained for her clothes to be removed, but she spat in the face of one and bit the other on the forearm.

Binkoska, of Dovey Close in Connah’s Quay, received a suspended prison sentence after she admitted two charges of assault on police.

At North East Wales Magistrates’ Court district judge Gwyn Jones said that the two officers were simply carrying out their duties and that the defendant’s behaviour had been “quite appalling”.

Immediate custody was more than justified but she had no previous convictions, had caring responsibilities for her daughter, she was in work and she had entered guilty pleas.

A 16 week prison sentence was suspended for 12 months, and she was tagged for ten weeks to ensure that she remains indoors between 6 pm and 6 am.

She was ordered to pay £250 compensation to one officer and £200 to the other.

Prosecutor Rhian Jackson said that the defendant became aggressive with the officers, shouted at them to f... off and began crying.

As she was restrained, it was then that she spat in one officer’s face and bit the other.

It was said on her behalf that she wished to apologise for her behaviour. She had been suspected of assault, it was not her, she had done nothing wrong and became upset.
