A WOMAN who had a drink remembered she had left her wallet at her place of work and drove back to get it.

But she was stopped by police and was found to be more than twice the drink-drive limit.

Magdalana Klech, 28, of High Street in Connah’s Quay, admitted driving with 86 microgrammes of alcohol in her breath, compared to the legal limit of 35, when she appeared at North East Wales Magistrates Court at Mold.

Klech, who followed the proceedings with the aid of a Polish interpreter, was banned from driving for 20 months and

fined £175 with £85 costs and a £30 surcharge.

District judge Gwyn Jones said she had never troubled the courts before and had pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.

Prosecutor Justin Espie said Klech was stopped by police at 2am on December 15.

She was driving a BMW which was said to have been straddling the centre white lines and then hit a kerb.

When officers indicated to the driver to stop she made an emergency stop and almost hit a bus shelter, he alleged.

Rebecca Boswell, defending, said her client stopped quickly as soon as she saw a blue light behind her but denied almost hitting the bus shelter.

She had been in the UK six years and worked in a local shop.

Klech lived and work in the local area and a disqualification would not affect her employment.

That night she had been drinking at home, her mother became ill and she realised she had left her wallet at her place of work.

“She stupidly got into her car to go and collect it,” Miss Boswell said.

“As soon as she saw the blue light she made an emergency stop.”

She had never troubled a court before and hopefully would never do so again, she said.
