SCHOOL children have got into the festive spirit in a unique way - by throwing Santa’s boots as far as they can!
Pupils at Park CP School in Llay took part in a welly wanging competition called ‘Santa’s Big Booties’ with the aim being to see who can throw the specially tinsel decorated boot the furthest.
Meryl Ivison, deputy head of the school, said the children loved the afternoon and some got really creative in trying out new ways to throw the boots as far as they could.
“We had some novel techniques being used by the children, including through the legs, over the shoulders, but the main thing was, they all really enjoyed themselves and it was great fun.
“The kids took great delight in seeing which direction the boots went, and the Leader photographer almost got hit with one them, which they found hilarious.”
Luckily photographer Craig Colville was unhurt by the rogue welly and the two overall winners were Jack Teal and Joe Wright, who each were given a chocolate bouquet as a prize.
