PEOPLE are urged to be vigilant following reports in Flintshire of scammers claiming to be from the HMRC.
Flintshire Council's Trading Standards are warning that scammers are targeting Flintshire today (Thursday).
The scam involves a phone call telling the recipient that they have underpaid on their tax and that unless you pay up immediately either police or HMRC officials will raid your home and take what is owed or that you will be arrested.
HMRC do not work in this way and will not cold call anyone making threats such as this. It is a scam and advice is to terminate the call immediately.
