VOLUNTEERS have accepted a ‘kind’ donation for their community project.

Adam Dandy, of Dandy’s Topsoil and Turf has donated three tonnes of mushroom compost to the Digging Deeside Group as a way of thanking them for their work.

The drop off was made at the Mill Lane Allotment site in Connah’s Quay and volunteers gathered to accept the donation.

Adam Dandy told the Leader: “We are delighted to support Digging Deeside again and the excellent work that they do within the community and local groups. We are also thankful of the involvement of local councillors Christine Jones and David Wisinger.

“I feel that by donating these products to the local community in this way it enables people to build relationships and gets people out and about when they might not otherwise be able to do so.”

Digging Deeside is just one project run by RainbowBiz - a social enterprise that aims to bring people together and promote equality and diversity.

The gardening group meets every Tuesday to take part in a variety of gardening activities within their local community.

Sue Oliver, director of RainbowBiz, said: “We are absolutely overjoyed that Dandy’s and AHPlant Hire are supporting our community project.

“With this extremely kind donation, it ensures our volunteers feel valued for the excellent community work they do and shows local support from commercial businesses.”

The donation was organised by Digging Deeside’s newest volunteer, Jo Williams, who asked Adam Dandy for help.
