Raiders 'smash through brick wall' at Deeside's Apex Kart building

Nathan Murray, business manager at the Apex Kart Chester circuit raceway in Sandycroft, has offered an unspecified reward for information which results in the conviction of those responsible for the break-in which happened early on Friday.

He said: “It was from about 3.20am. They smashed a hole in a brick wall next to a big extractor fan in the side of the building.

“They were smashing the hole for about an hour and they were inside for about three minutes.

“Now we have a gaping hole in the building, but the outside has been boarded up.

“There were a few items taken but I am not sure what they were - the business owners came down and dealt with that.”

Mr Murray told the Leader yesterday that the incident at The Circuit, Engineer Park, which has been reported to North Wales Police, has had an impact on the Babbage Road-based business.

He added: “We’ve had to cancel some bookings due to having to sort the track out to get it fit to drive on, so we have lost revenue on that.”

Describing the moment he saw the CCTV footage, he said: “Seeing two people in your premises at that time of the morning is not the best way to start the day.

“It’s not nice knowing there are people out there behaving in that manner, breaking into places.”

Mr Murray is hoping members of the public might be able to identify the individuals involved by their clothing and the way they identified in CCTV he has shared on social media.

Addressing the people who broke into the premises, Mr Murray said: “It is only a matter of time before we find out who did it as there is CCTV everywhere around here.

“Do the honest thing. Own up before we find out who did it.”
