ORGANISATIONS from in and around Gresford have come together to donate and decorate trees for Christmas.

The tree decorating is part of a fundraising scheme in aid of both Hope House Hospice and Nightingale House as well as Gresford All Saints Church.

The celebrations kicked off on Tuesday night, with staff from the local Co-op donating a cheque for £250 to the church.

Following on from the launch, trees have been steadily flowing in, several of which have been decorated by patients of Hope House and Nightingale House.

Janet Fletcher, volunteer at the church, said: “It’s been really good. It’s a shame the weather was so bad on the opening day but since then we’ve had a steady crowd going through the doors.

“Three years ago we started this as a fundraiser and we really enjoyed it, so we thought we’d have another go.

“It was a bit bigger the following year, so we thought we’d do it again and it’s been a bit bigger again.

“We’ve got 44 trees in all, from several local groups and businesses, the like of the Guides and Brownies. The theme has been carols, which everyone’s tried to stick to.

“The Sirenian Singers are performing Saturday night at 7pm, so we’re encouraging anyone who still wants to see the display to come along.”
