OVER the years I have driven past the Croes Howell many times, going to and from Wrexham, but for one reason or another I have never stopped to sample the cuisine on offer.
But that was rectified when I enjoyed spot of afternoon tea with family at the restaurant, which is located in Straight Mile near Rossett.
The Croes Howell certainly has an excellent location, being convenient for drivers and boasting come wonderful views of Wrexham and Cheshire's rural splendour.
The décor is also very inviting and is complimented by some very courteous and attentive staff
Accompanied by my wife Amy, baby son Evan and Amy's grandmother Reena, I enjoyed a excellent meal that was both well cooked and creatively presented.
Now, afternoon tea wouldn't normally my choice of meal but I have to say that
Out tea had a Hallowe'en theme – with some ghoulishly tasty cakes, scones and a selection of sandwiches along with unlimited tea and a Bloody Mary to mark the occasion.
The rest of the menu also seemed inviting, with a variety of meals available, so take your pick!
There is of course a more conventional afternoon tea option available throughout the year – as well as a special festive offering at Christmas.
There was even a children's option which little Evan had a good go at – and his dad was more than happy to polish off the ineviatble leftovers!
Overall, I would heartily recommend the Croes Howell and based on my first visit, I will definitely make a point of visiting again.
£17.50 per person, plus £10 per child.
