A WREXHAM man stole gift sets from a Boots store, a court heard.
Appearing at North East Wales Magistrates Court, Jonathan Tudor Owen, 41, admitted a theft charge on November 1.
Justin Espie, prosecuting, said Owen walked into the shop on Plas Coch, Wrexham and put a number of items worth up to £36.60 into a bag before trying to exit the store.
Owen immediately handed them back and apologised, Mr Espie told the Mold court.
Simon Simmonds, defending, said Owen was staying at Ty Nos homeless shelter and had problems with class A drug addiction but it was two-and-a-half years since his last offence and he was now on a methadone prescription.
"He is trying his best," added Mr Simmonds.
Handing Owen a conditional discharge, magistrates' chairman Nick Colbourne said: "We have sympathy with your plight."
Owen will also pay costs of £45 and a victim surcharge of £20.
