A SCHOOL has come together to remember the fallen soldiers of the First World War.
Pupils from Ysgol Estyn, Hope, joined their local community in knitting poppies that have now been placed down the wall of the Hope Parish Church.
Gareth Jones, headteacher, said he was approached by a member of the church asking if their pupils would like to get involved and in one full day, about 240 knitted poppies were made.
He told the Leader: "It was incredible. The pupils also received a history lesson on Remembrance Day to make them more aware of the importance of remembering the people and how our country would have been very different if it wasn't for all those brave people.
"It opened some of their eyes to hear some of the stories of the fallen soldiers and they got to see some memorabilia from that time period.
We are going for a church service this week so our children can see all the poppies first-hand. I would like to say thank you for inviting us and being part of the memorial, it was quite a task."
A cascade of over 2,000 knitted poppies can now be seen at Hope Parish Church in a bid to remember those involved during the war.
