A COUNCILLOR has urged residents to be vigilant after growing concerns over anti-social behaviour in Garden City.

Cllr Christine Jones, of the Sealand ward, has heard an increasing number of concerns over youths throwing eggs, especially at moving vehicles.

She said: “They are doing it when they are travelling down Welsh Road, it’s dangerous and it’s going to cause an accident.

“I wish shop keepers would be more vigilant when selling these sort of products to youngsters. There’s no reason for them to be buying eggs. But the thing is they then get abuse off the children so it’s a vicious cycle.

“I feel for the shop keepers this time of year, they are put on the spot.

“We are talking about actual vehicles travelling along Welsh Road and over the flyover and they are going to all streets, not just staying in one place, so everyone has been affected. It’s intimidating.”

North Wales Police launched Operation Bang to target problem areas and encouraged children to take part in Halloween but not anti-social behaviour. Officers also reminded local shops not to sell eggs and flour to children.

Cllr Jones said she is arranging a joint meeting with herself and partners, such as North Wales Police, OWL and safety officers, where people can come and express their concerns.

A date is yet to be confirmed.
