A WOMAN smashed up her former partner’s Mercedes Benz in Wrexham after they had split up, a court heard.
Jade Daniels took a coping stone to Jonathan Griffiths’ pride and joy which was parked outside the home he shared with his mother in Glascoed Way, Summerhill.
She smashed the windscreen and a wing mirror, dented the bonnet and a pillar connecting the roof, while she also left the vehicle with heavy scratch marks.
Prosecutor Paul Abraham told Wrexham Magistrates Court the 65 plate vehicle was worth at least £25,000 and the damage caused amounted to £4,095.
Daniels was enraged that Mr Griffiths chose to end their 10-month long relationship and she went around to his home at 6am on November 26.
Mr Griffiths’ mother told her that her son was not in as was on a night out, but she replied: “I’m going to ruin his life.”
His mother then heard a thumping noise from outside her property and saw Daniels hitting her son’s car.
A neighbour who witnessed the vandalism said Daniels hit the car window 10 times with an object and then threw it onto the bonnet before walking away to catch a taxi.
Mr Griffiths was said to be “heartbroken” when he learnt about the damage and it was said he would struggle to meet the repair costs as he had applied for a £17,000 loan to make the final payment of the purchase cost.
The court heard Daniels sent Mr Griffiths a series of messages, including “karma is best served as a first course” and “when you play with fire you get burnt”.
She later offered to pay the windscreen repair, which was estimated at £805.
Daniels, 31, of Montgomery Road, Caia Park, failed to turn up at a trials court to enter her plea to a criminal damage charge and she was found guilty in her absence.
Mr Abraham said she had not responded to a postal requisition and had not attended a previous hearing.
Magistrates issued a warrant without bail against her.
