A CHARITY a golf event in memory of a Flintshire boy was a big success, organisers have said.

Daniel Inskip, 12, died after being knocked off his bike as he cycled to his Brynford home in 1994.

His family has hosted the annual Daniel Inskip Memorial Golf Tournament for the last ten years in order to help good causes such as the RNLI, Wales Air Ambulance, Alder Hey Hospital and others.

This year the event took place at Prestatyn Golf Club and raised £1,800 for Guide Dogs Cymru.

Daniel's dad Danny Inskip, who runs Danny’s Family Butchers in Holywell, organises the annual event with his wife Clair.

She said: "We had 120 people taking part in the tournament in teams of four and we had gorgeous weather for it.

"We are very pleased with how much we raised. We'd like to say a big thank you to everyone for their support, it is a very worthy charity.

"During the raffle and presentation afterwards a some people from Guide Dogs Cymru came and one stood up to talk about how having a guide dog had changed his life.

"It really showed where the money would be going. Overall the event was a big success."

She added this year her husband Danny took part in the event in memory of his son, who was an Everton supporter and loved sports.

The funds raised were handed over to members of Guide Dogs Cymru at Danny’s Family Butchers last week.
