Firefighters are battling a gorse fire in Flintshire.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service received a call shortly after 11.23am this morning reporting a fire on Pentre Halkyn Mountain.

Three fire crews are currently at the scene using beaters and a pair of hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze - which is confirmed to have spread to 600 square metres of gorse.

Brynford Road has been closed as fire crews tackle the fire.

A spokesperson for Flintshire Council: "Brynford Rd, Pentre Halkyn has been closed due a grassland fire in the immediate area.

"Road closure signs have been erected and the fire service are in attendance."
