THERE was disappointment among drinkers after a popular pub suddenly closed.
The Royal Oak in Higher Kinnerton closed its doors last month, with the pub closed “for the forseeable future”.
Punch Taverns, who own the property, said they would not be drawn on why the former publican left the business, but said they were hopeful the pub would be back open soon.
A spokesman said: “The previous publican left the pub back in May this year and we cannot comment further on the circumstances.
“We are currently recruiting for a new publican to take the long-term opportunity at the Royal Oak. We are planning to open the pub on a temporary basis, where we will then seek to invest in a £180,000 refurbishment.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused to the local community and look forward to reopening the pub as soon as possible.”
