A STRIKE over pay and conditions at a Deeside factory was halted yesterday at the last minute.
Dozens of workers from Ifor Williams Trailers (IWT) on Deeside Industrial Park called off their action after bosses made a new acceptable pay offer.
Unite union representatives said bosses had revised their offer to staff who had rejected an initial 1.5 per cent rise.
Further action planned for today was suspended while union members were balloted over the new offer which they decided to accept.
The workers had staged four one-day strikes. The union said members wanted the same pay as workers at the firm’s Corwen factory.
Last month the firm claimed its offer of £9.10 per hour was above average for Deeside.
A spokesman for IWT Deeside said last night: "We are naturally pleased that the pay offer has been accepted today, particularly at a time when uncertain market conditions continue to impact our manufacturing production at Deeside."
IWT produces horseboxes, livestock trailers and a wide range of commercial and domestic trailers.
The firm is Europe’s biggest trailer maker and has been trading for more than 50
years.
