SCORES of military history enthusiasts took a step back in time at a special event held in Llangollen.
The history fair featuring more than 50 stalls ranging from genealogy to military recreation societies was held at the town’s pavilion.
It was part of the Festival of History and Remembrance, which began on November 6.
The organiser, military historian Peter Stubbs, from Birch Hill, Llangollen, said:
“The fair was designed for everyone with a fascination for the past.
“We had exhibits from virtually every century featuring local and national history, including activities, re-enactors, memorabilia, plus a series of talks and workshops throughout the day.”
On Saturday the fair was given over to a programme of events, fairs, talks and workshops celebrating the heritage of the Dee Valley area and encouraging a deeper understanding of local, national and world history.
The previous night there had been an Evening of Swing, performed by Wrexham’s Bill Basey Big Band, held in the pavilion.
Llangollen Museum has been running a children’s photography competition on the theme of railways and remembrance. It is also holding an exhibition on the Patriot Project, a scheme to build a new Patriot class steam engine in Llangollen to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.
The festival ends with the Service of Remembrance at Llangollen Cenotaph on Sunday.
