COME Dine With Me – at last!

A long-awaited Wrexham episode of the popular TV cooking show is finally set to be broadcast after being pushed back a series.

The Channel 4 show, which sees contestants battle it out as dinner party hosts, was filmed in the town in December 2008.

It was originally due to air the following summer but a last-minute edit led to it being postponed.

Now the episode is scheduled for Friday, November 26 – but this date will not be confirmed until November 3.

The line-up features James Stevens, of Penycae, Nadine Leese from Overton, Maria Wynne, from Penley, and Stephen Housego, from Chirk.

Single dad James, who has completed a degree in creative lens media at Glyndwr University, said he was pleased to finally have a broadcast date.

He said: “I think some people didn’t believe we had done the show.

“I’m looking forward to watching it – I can’t remember bits of it now.”

James believes the edit may have been due to a reference to Charlie’s Angels star Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson who both died the summer after the show was filmed.

Channel 4 spokeswoman Naomi Powell-Brown said the busy filming schedule often leads to a delay in episodes being aired. She added: “On this occasion there was a last minute edit that needed to be made which resulted in it being pushed back a series.”

Viewers will see the four contestants take turns to host a dinner party for the other competitors, with tongue in cheek narration from Dave Lamb.

Each host is then given a score out of 10 with the winner receiving £1,000 prize money.

Talking about filming the show, James said at the time: “At one point I was shaking because you are just so conscious of the cameras.

“In the back of your mind you know nobody is watching you at the time but you know that soon millions of people will be watching you on television.”
