HEARTLESS thieves have struck a number of households in Llangollen – including the local vicarage.
The Rev Andrew Sully, vicar of St Collen’s Parish Church, was among the victims in a spate of thefts from household outbuildings.
He was woken by a noise in the early hours of the morning and, upon inspection, found that a bicycle had been stolen.
The bike was of sentimental value to Mr Sully as it had been the one he rode on a charity bicycle ride from London to Copenhagen last year.
Other properties in the Abbey road area of the town were also targeted, with golf clubs and bicycles among the items stolen.
Mr Sully said: “On a scale of tragedies it is pretty insignificant, but it is annoying. It was only a bike and luckily it was covered by the insurance but it was sentimental for me.
“It was taken from the shed at about 12.30am on Friday (September 3). They knocked a wheelbarrow over as they were leaving and I heard it but, by the time I got down there they had gone.
“I know other people who have had things taken.”
Police are appealing for information following break ins to three garages in Llangollen last week.
Inspector Dewi Roberts said that two mountain bikes and a set of golf clubs were taken from three garages and urged anyone who may have noticed anything to get in touch with the police.
Anyone with information is asked to call North Wales Police on 101 or 0845 6071001 (Welsh) 0845 6071002 (English). Alternatively text 66767 or Crimestoppers Wales/Cymru on 0800555111.
