RECKLESS boy racers have been using playing fields at Wrexham Rugby Club to perform dangerous stunts.
North Wales Police has opened an ‘outpost’ at the club to crack down on the motorists involved at the club off Bryn Estyn Road after concerns were raised by nearby residents.
Police Community Support Officer Poppy Hadfield-Jones, a member of the local neighbourhood policing team, said: “The drivers are bringing cars on to the sports pitches and as a result of that action tyre tracks are being cut into the ground in their wake.”
PCSO Hadfield Jones stressed that the matter was receiving high attention from police, and warned motorists they could end up without a car because of their behaviour.
She added: “This is a local policing priority and we are working alongside the directors of the rugby club to crackdown on vehicles which are being driven in this dangerous and anti-social manner.
“Warning notices will be issued and under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act, vehicles can be seized.
“Regular police patrols cover this area and we currently have a new police outpost based in the rugby club premises to help maximise our visibility.
“Anti-social vehicle nuisance will certainly not be tolerated and we hope this will send out a clear message to those who are involved.”
