YOUNG inventors scooped a prestigious award for their hovercraft project.
Twelve pupils from Grange School won the Young Engineers Award at The Big Bang fair at RAF Cosford after they demonstrated various mini working models of the hovercraft at the fair.
The youngsters are part of the school’s STEM Club which combines the skills of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Science teacher Rose Barnard said: “We are absolutely delighted and extremely proud that the pupils won the award.
“It was a wonderful learning experience and thoroughly enjoyed by all who took part – we cannot wait for next year’s event.
“The students also achieved the BA Crest bronze award. These awards are run by the British Science Association. This was an added bonus and they were all buzzing with excitement about their achievements by the end of the day.”
The Big Bang: UK Young Scientists and Engineers Fair is the UK’s biggest single celebration of science and engineering for young people.
