THE new popular fast-food chain venue coming to Wrexham's city centre has finally confirmed its opening date.

It was announced last October that McDonald's would soon be opening at the Wrexham Central Retail Park, occupying the former Pizza Hut building.

The eatery has now confirmed it will open on Wednesday, March 20.

Last month, the fast-food chain applied for a late-night licence to serve refreshments from the unit between the hours of 11pm until 5am.

Anyone who wanted to make representations on the application was asked to write to the local authority's licensing officer by March 1, with a decision expected.

McDonald's has also confirmed there will not be a drive-thru facility at the restaurant due to a lack of space.

The new restaurant will help create a total of 70 jobs, including 30 full-time and 40 part-time roles.

In October 2023, 'Pizza Hut' which formerly occupied the building announced it was closing down with just two-weeks notice.

Concerns have been raised on numerous occasions regarding the parking situation at Wrexham's other McDonald's branch.
