DEAN KEATES is targeting a much needed win tomorrow - and he doesn't care how Wrexham get it.

The Reds face Chesterfield at The Proact Stadium in their FA Cup fourth qualifying round tie having lost 1-0 to the same opponents in the National League on Tuesday.

Defeat saw Wrexham drop into the relegation zone and they have won just one of their last 13 league games.

Keates, recently appointed manager for a second term, knows the importance of picking up a welcome victory and starting a cup run.

"Whether it is the league, FA Cup, Scottish Challenge Cup or whatever, we need to win a football match," said Keates.

"The FA Cup is extra revenue for the club and it brings extra money in for me to be able to add that strength and give us a few more bodies.

"We have to go and win a football match; whether it is pretty or not, I am not really fussed.

"We have to make sure that come 5pm we have got a victory."

Keates is tasked with leading Wrexham away from trouble but a place in the first round of the famous competition is up for grabs tomorrow.

"I think maybe it was a relegation battle when I came in and that was the reason I came in, managers change," said Keates.

"It is not good enough, I am fully aware of that and we have to make that change.

"We have to make sure first and foremost we get the club away from where it is and then we can start looking at the league table.

"But this is the FA Cup and we have to go and win a game."

Keates is hoping that inspirational captain Shaun Pearson, who missed Tuesday's defeat through illness, is available.

"There is no doubt we miss him, he is the captain," said Keates.

"The reason I brought him into the football club is he is an old school defender.

"Maybe one or two need to replicate how he plays.

"We need to be better. There are things that need addressing and we will make sure they are addressed."
