WREXHAM will aim to impress in front of the live television cameras today but Bryan Hughes expects his side to rise to the occasion in every match they play.

The Reds face Sutton United at The Racecourse with the match being screened live by BT Sport, 5.20pm kick-off.

Although it is a chance to showcase their talent in front of a wider audience, Hughes says the players should step up to the plate regardless of whether they are on television as Wrexham aim to kick-start their season.

"We are always on the big stage here," said Hughes.

"We have got a healthy fanbase so our expectation levels are really high.

"We don't need the TV cameras here to raise performances, we need to be doing that week in, week out.

"But it is always nice to play in front of the cameras; I am sure the players will enjoy that and hopefully they will put in a good performance."

Wrexham have taken 10 points from their opening nine matches and Hughes wants to build on the Scottish Challenge Cup success over Ayr by ending a five-game winless run in the league.

"We haven't got the points on the board that we wanted at this stage," said Hughes.

"We have lost three games but in my eyes, we have probably drawn too many.

"Four draws where we could have taken maximum points from some of them games and it would have given us a different reading.

"There is still a lot of improving to do. There have been a lot of changes over the summer, we have still got people here from last season who know what I want and the way I want to play.

"We are learning each others games every day and I can only see us getting better and better.

"Obviously beating Ayr gives everyone a confidence boost and now we have got to take that into the league.

"We have got to start winning games of football."
