BOBBY GRANT praised supporters for their brilliant backing at Hartlepool and the striker is eager to make amends for Wrexham's poor performance by beating Stockport this afternoon.

The Reds took the lead on Bank Holiday Day but Pools turned things around to win 4-2 as Bryan Hughes' side's winless run extended to three games.

More than 300 fans travelled to Victoria Park and Grant, who went over to speak with supporters following the final whistle, insists the players will be working hard to turn the corner, hopefully starting with three points against Stockport.

"Every single day you work hard to put things right," said Grant.

"We've got Stockport at home and we have got to go to get three points.

"We need to pick ourselves up. A disappointing result on Monday and disappointing for the travelling fans - I can only thank them for their support, they have been great.

"We are going to have ups and downs throughout the season and it is up to us to turn it around, we are the only people who can take responsibility and put it right on the pitch.

"We have got the quality, we have shown that in patches. It is just getting that on a more consistent basis."
