BRYAN HUGHES is looking for a positive response from his side when Wrexham face Stockport at The Racecourse tomorrow.

Despite taking the lead at Hartlepool on Monday, the Reds produced a poor second half performance and suffered a 4-2 defeat.

The second defeat of the season leaves 13th placed Wrexham nine points behind leaders Woking but Hughes is backing his players to come good.

"A lot has been spoken about the Hartlepool game," said Hughes. "We have got three home games coming up now in the league and we are looking for a response.

"I fully believe that these players will give us a response; I have got a lot of faith in them.

"Monday was certainly a bad day at the office all-round conceding four goals and another man sent off was hard to take.

"But we have got to try and stay positive. There were some positives through the game; us taking the lead again when we took 28 passes to get that goal which was pleasing to see.

"But the result was unacceptable and now we are looking forward to hopefully putting it right tomorrow."

Hughes added: "I don't like losing games and I don't like conceding four goals in a game.

"There are a few things that we need to try and get back into our own performances.

"I have got a lot of belief in the players to put this right and they know what is needed.

"Hopefully in these three home games coming up we can get our points tally up and start moving up the table."

Hughes has urged supporters to keep the faith and says they can help Wrexham clinch three points against the Hatters.

"The last time we got a good attendance against Halifax, we need that sort of backing off the fans to really push these players on, especially when you have had a bad result like we did at Hartlepool," added Hughes.

"We need people pulling in the same direction and trying to move up this table.

"The Stockport game has come at a good time for us where we can bring everyone together again and hopefully have the players performing to a level what is expected."
