BRYAN HUGHES declared himself happy with a point after Wrexham drew 1-1 against Notts County.

The Magpies, relegated from the Football League last season, took a 69th minute lead at Meadow Lane.

However, Wrexham, cheered on by nearly 1,600 travelling supporters, equalised just five minutes later with midfielder Devonte Redmond scoring his first goal for the Reds.

Although Hughes admits Wrexham played better in Tuesday's 1-0 win over then-leaders Halifax Town, he was pleased with elements of the performance.

When asked whether it was a good point, Hughes said. "I think so. Any point away from home is always a bonus.

"In general, I don't think we were as fluid as what we were on Tuesday night.

"There were certain qualities that came out which was refreshing; the character once you go 1-0 down to bounce back was great from my part.

"We all know we can play a little bit better on the ball but overall it was satisfying point.

"Notts County are in a bit of transition; they have brought a lot of new players in and are tinkering with different formations, and I think they are going to take points here over the course of the season so it will be a good point in the end."

Hughes added: "We were still confident from our performance on Tuesday and we wanted to try and take the game to Notts County.

"Overall, I was quite happy with everything but some of the sticky situations we got ourselves in was down to our own doing.

"We gave them a little bit of impetus in the game from individual errors."
