GRAHAM BARROW has cast doubt over whether Dennis Lawrence will become Wrexham's new manager.

Lawrence is the overwhelming favourite to fill the void created by Sam Ricketts, who left to join Shrewsbury Town.

But that would mean leaving his post as head coach of Trinidad and Tobago, a position he has held for almost a year.

And Barrow, who worked with Lawrence at Wigan, said: "To be honest, I don't know where that's going.

"He's in a bit of a dilemma because he's in, I wouldn't say his dream job, but to be where he is means it would be a huge decision to give it up."

Barrow is enjoying the role of interim manager, but is hopeful a decision on the next manager will be made by the home game against Aldershot on December 22.

He added: "That's not drifting along, but I would think there will be some outcome, hopefully, by a week on Saturday as to where the club is going."

The 64-year-old, meanwhile, revealed that Manny Smith missed Tuesday night's FA Cup replay defeat to Newport after feeling pain in his knee.

Smith returned to action in the 2-0 win against Eastleigh on Saturday after three months on the sidelines, but was set to undergo a precautionary scan today after feeling "a bit sore".

Barrow said: "It's a concern, but they want to eradicate any issues, clear his head and get him up and running again."
