THE draw for the third round of the FA Cup takes place tonight.

Broadcast live on BBC One from 7.30pm, Wrexham are in the hat after drawing 0-0 against League Two side Newport County in Saturday's second round tie at The Racecourse.

The 44 clubs from the Premier League and Championship enter the competition at this stage.

Wrexham or Newport are ball number 47 and the replay is scheduled for Tuesday December 11 at Rodney Parade.

The third round is due to to take place over the weekend of Saturday January 5.

Winning clubs will receive £135,500 after The FA doubled the prize fund at the beginning of the season.

It is still not known who will be in charge of Wrexham for Saturday's league game against Eastleigh.

Manager Sam Ricketts, who took charge of the Reds in May on a three year contract, was asked not to attend the cup clash with Newport.

The former Wales international has been linked with the vacant managerial position at Shrewsbury Town and speculation grew on Friday that the League One club were closing in on a move to make Ricketts their new boss.

His assistant, Graham Barrow, was at the helm on Saturday alongside Jussi Jaaskelainen and Carl Darlington.
