AKIL WRIGHT wants Wrexham to make the most of home advantage and reach the third round of the FA Cup.

Sam Ricketts' side face Newport County at The Racecourse and although the Exiles play at a higher level, Wright believes that will bring out the best in Wrexham.

"Newport are doing well themselves in League Two and everyone is excited for it," said Wright.

"It is going to be a great game and a good prize at the end of it would be a decent draw.

"At home we are always confident. Even away we are confident but we have got the advantage of being at home.

"We know they are going to be a good side but playing against good sides will improve our game as well."

Wrexham, beaten in the fourth qualifying round in each of the previous three seasons, have maintained their promotion challenge whilst reaching this stage of the competition.

Although the league is the priority, Wright is eager to continue making progress in the cup.

"Last season we didn't get to the first round proper so it is nice to be in the FA Cup still," said Wright.

"Everyone wants to play in the FA Cup and we are looking forward to it.

"It is a massive game, it is on TV as well and hopefully there will be a great turnout from the fans.

"We are up for it, obviously the main focus is on the league but when it comes to the FA Cup, everyone is buzzing for it and they can't wait."
