SHAUN PEARSON will take heart from recent performances and results against Harrogate as Wrexham chase an illusive win on an artificial playing surface.

The Reds make the trip to Maidstone unbeaten in 10 games, registering two goalless draws on the 3G pitch at Wetherby Road in the league and cup during that spell.

Top of the table Wrexham have never won at Maidstone and also failed to leave Sutton and Bromley - two other clubs who have artificial pitches - with three points.

But Pearson hopes that changes against the Stones at The Gallagher Stadium tomorrow.

"It is what it is, you can't complain about it, you have to get on with it," said Pearson about not playing on grass.

"We had a poor result at Sutton, I know we haven't won on it but if you take the two results at Harrogate as isolated results, they were both good results and good performances.

"We can take heart from that and hopefully we can get out first victory on there tomorrow."

While Wrexham are flying high at the top of the table, Maidstone have struggled this season.

But a 2-0 victory at Barnet a fortnight ago took the Stones out of the relegation zone up to 18th position, and Harry Wheeler's side pulled off an FA Cup upset last weekend after beating League Two strugglers Macclesfield Town 2-1 to reach the second round.

Reds' boss Sam Ricketts believes Maidstone are a side on the up and does not expect them to be dragged back into trouble.

"Maidstone are on a decent run to be fair to them," said Ricketts.

"They had a really good win at Barnet and obviously a good win against Macclesfield in the cup.

"They have got some dynamic players up top and they are pretty quick and fairly pacey, especially on the break.

"They are a side on the up, they are not struggling going down the table - I see them more coming up the table, especially on the back of a few good results."
