SHAUN PEARSON has been named in the National League team of the season for a second year in a row.

Wrexham were beaten 1-0 by Eastleigh in the play-off eliminator on May 2 but Reds captain Pearson has been rewarded for his efforts by being included in the division's team of the season.

Pearson, who signed a contract extension in December keeping him at The Racecourse until the summer of 2021, led by example as Wrexham finished fourth with 84 points to clinch a play-off spot for the first time in six years.

The 30-year-old centre-back helped Wrexham equal a club record by keeping 26 clean sheets in all competitions and he also finished joint top scorer with six goals.

Stuart Beavon, who also finished with the same goal tally, spent the 2018-19 season on loan at Wrexham and the striker has been released by parent club Coventry City.
