WREXHAM players are waiting to see if they have a future at the club.

Reds boss Bryan Hughes is set to announce his retained list by the end of the week after holding talks with his out of contract players.

Just seven members of Hughes' squad - Christian Dibble, Shaun Pearson, Jake Lawlor, Akil Wright, Luke Young, Mike Fondop and Jason Oswell - are under contract for the 2019-20 season when Wrexham begin a 12th campaign in non-league following last Thursday's play-off defeat to Eastleigh.

Goalkeeper Rob Lainton heads the list of players waiting to see if they are offered new deals.

Lainton won the Player of the Year award and kept 25 of Wrexham's 26 clean sheets this term as they equalled a club record, while fellow stopper Luke Simpson is also a free-agent.

Vice-captain Mark Carrington, the longest serving player in Hughes' squad, is waiting to see if he has a future at The Racecourse along with defenders Kevin Roberts, Manny Smith - missing for most of the season with a knee injury - Kieran Kennedy, Doug Tharme and James Jennings.

Midfielders Luke Summerfield, Paul Rutherford, Nicky Deverdics, Leo Smith and Kemy Agustien are also free agents along with strikers Chris Holroyd and Bobby Grant.

Stuart Beavon, Jermaine McGlashan, Brad Walker, Anthony Spyrou, and Cole Stockton finished the season on loan with Wrexham and will report back to their parent clubs.
