FORMER Wales international and now football pundit Malcolm Allen is backing Wrexham to make it through tonight.

“It’s been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for everyone involved with Wrexham Football Club this season,” said S4C’s Allen.

“From the promising start under Sam Ricketts with 20 points from the first 10 games, things were looking exciting. No one would dare whisper it at that early stage, but there were positive signs. Then came the déjà vu scenario with Sam leaving, just like Dean Keates the season prior.

“So where did that leave Wrexham – yes, in limbo again. In came Graham Barrow and he tried his best, but didn’t seem to get the most out of the players after the bombshell of Ricketts’ departure.

“So the club made a very brave decision, and the correct decision, to bring in the two Brians. Hughes; a fans favourite as a player, and Flynn; someone who knows the club inside out and a fantastic man to have around, with his knowledge and understanding.

“Goals have been a problem, with big Shaun Pearson leading the way with six goals telling the whole story. But we must look at the here and now.

“They’ve got three cup finals. Three of the most crucial games these players will ever play. It might never come round again.

“First of all, it’s Eastleigh at the Racecourse tonight. The Dragons have already taken six points from them in the league this season, and with their home record of 17 wins from 23 games this season, Bryan Hughes’ men must take full advantage of their home support.

“We can worry about Salford after that. But with four wins from their last five games, the team have momentum and self-confidence behind them. Wrexham are ready. See you all at Wembley, folks. C’mon the Dragons.”
