BRYAN HUGHES believes Wrexham’s recent form compares favourably to their promotion rivals - and he’s done the research to prove it.

Saturday’s 3-1 win over Braintree came on the back of four defeats in five outings, but prior to that Wrexham were unbeaten in six games and it means they have taken a total of 22 points from 12 matches, a tally that Hughes is pleased with.

“In my eyes it is a bit lower than what I wanted but it is still a good return,” said Hughes.

“In a blue sky world I would love 24 points - more if I could - but I would be very happy with 24 points from 12 games because that is two points a game and that is Championship form.”

Hughes looked at the form over the last 12 games of all the teams currently in the top-seven and Wrexham boast the third best return.

“Looking at that, we are in good form," said Hughes. "People can judge whether we are in good form or not but that tells me we have done well and we are in a healthy position.”

Hughes wants a decent points return from the last four matches as fifth placed Wrexham aim to secure at least a play-off spot.

"We could have been a lot better and we could have given ourselves a better chance maybe of the top with some of the performances but every team in those 12 games has had little sticky spells," added Hughes.

"It is going to be the same over the next four games, whether it is us or one of the other teams around us.

“All we need to focus on is trying to maximise our points tally and let’s see where it ends up at the end of the season.”
