JORDAN MAGUIRE-DREW believes he is starting to show Leyton Orient supporters what he is capable of after a frustrating end to his spell with Wrexham.

The 21-year-old winger joined the Reds on a season-long loan deal from Brighton last summer but returned to the Seagulls on December 29.

Just days later and Maguire-Drew signed for promotion rivals Orient for an undisclosed fee and he scored a stunning 30-yard volley in Saturday's 2-1 win at Havant and Waterlooville.

Having only made two substitute appearances for the Reds after starting the 1-0 win against Hartlepool on October 30, Maguire-Drew feels he is benefitting from more opportunities with the O's.

“When I came to the club, the last game I started was October 30 for Wrexham against Hartlepool United, so I had two months of not really playing," said Maguire-Drew, who scored three goals in 17 league appearances at The Racecourse.

"I am just starting to find my feet and show the fans what I can do and I’m hoping I can carry that on now.

“I can hear my name and it’s brilliant, I’m glad I can reward them. They really are our 12th man, they don’t realise the impact they have on us.

"When the game goes a bit flat and they sing and chant, it gives us an extra five, ten per cent.”

On his stunning goal against Havant, Maguire-Drew said: “Macca [Bonne] flicked it onto me, it sat up nicely and I heard Macca shout ‘shoot’, but it was already in my mind.

"I just caught it nicely and I didn’t even feel it come off my boot, but I looked up and luckily it was in.

“At Brighton I used to play as a number 10 all the time, I enjoy it. As long I’m playing, I’m happy and I hope I can just continue to make positive impacts when I come on or when I’m starting.

“I want to keep this spot and we want to start a winning run now."

Orient have been inconsistent since the turn of the year but remain in the hunt for automatic promotion and have reached the FA Trophy semi-finals.

“It is brilliant because when games come thick and fast and we’re notching up the wins, it becomes a habit and that’s what we want," said Maguire-Drew.

“We have a lot of games in a short space of time so if we can keep that winning mentality and keep being positive with each other and getting positive outcomes, everyone is going to be happy.”
