MARK CARRINGTON has been added to Wrexham's injury list but Bryan Hughes hopes to have some players back for Saturday's visit of Chesterfield.

The good news for Hughes is that captain Shaun Pearson, who has missed the last two games with a back problem, is set to be available along with Kevin Roberts and Bobby Grant.

"Hopefully we have got a couple coming back for this weekend," said Hughes.

"Shaun was hopefully training today so he will be a big bonus to us, the club captain, if he is available for Saturday.

"Roberts and Grant potentially come back into the frame as well so we will monitor them over the next couple of days."

Goalkeeper Rob Lainton missed his first league game of the season as National League leaders Wrexham drew 1-1 at Gateshead on Saturday.

Christian Dibble, restricted to two FA Trophy appearances this term, came into the side with new signing Luke Simpson, brought in as cover for the duo, handed a place on the substitutes bench.

When asked whether Lainton, who has kept 18 league clean sheets, could return, Hughes said: "Rob is 50-50 at the moment.

"We have got to be careful with Rob, it is a shoulder injury so we have got to be really mindful of that.

"That is why we brought Luke in as cover, I was always mindful to get three goalkeepers in at this stage of the season just in case anything like this does happen."

Lainton has no qualms about Dibble continuing if Lainton fails to make it.

"I have got no issue playing Dibbs, he is a very good second choice keeper behind Rob who is the number one and rightly so with the clean sheets that he has kept this season and last season," said Dibble.

But Carrington is ruled out and midfielder Luke Summerfield's comeback has been put on hold.

"Carra has pulled his thigh so he is going to be out for a couple of weeks," said Hughes.

"He is going to be a big loss. He has done well since he has come in, he gives you that versatility and can play in numerous positions which is a credit to him.

"But Roberts is not far off so it could be a like for like swap but we have just got to make sure Robbo is right. We don't want him to keep breaking down with his calf so I just want to make sure that is right.

"We were hoping that Summers might have been available quite soon but he has had a reaction and he has gone backwards a little bit so he is going to be out as well."
