BRYAN HUGHES says Wrexham will be ready for a Boreham Wood backlash tonight.

The Wood were thrashed 4-0 at home by Hartlepool United on Saturday and have dropped to 15th in the National League.

Second placed Wrexham will go top with a win at Meadow Park but Hughes is taking nothing for granted and insists his players will be focussed on the job in hand.

"Boreham Wood are not in the best of form, one win in the last 10, a heavy defeat at home to Hartlepool on Saturday, but they will want to try and make amends for that," said Hughes.

"A 4-0 home defeat can have repercussions and it is usually the team that comes after that, which is us, so I am fully aware of that and I expect them to have a reaction for their manager as I would.

"It will be a tough game and we might go into the game as favourites on our current form but I will make sure the players' mentality is right.

"We are not going to take our foot off the gas and will approach the game like we have approached the last few, hopefully it will be enough and we get the right result."

Wrexham came from 1-0 down at the break to triumph 3-2 at Havant and Waterlooville on Saturday.

Three goals in the opening 15 minutes of the second half helped secure a third win in a row and Hughes was understandable delighted with that spell.

"It was pleasing to see from the side," said Hughes.

"You speak to them at half-time and try and give them that belief because it was just that final third that we were lacking in the first half.

"We got into some really positions, but then that first 15-20 minutes in the second half it all came together.

"There was certainly belief amongst the team, we had people getting forward, full-backs were pushing on, and really caused Havant a lot of problems. "We got good deliveries into the box and fortunately for us we got the goals to accumulate that."
