WREXHAM beat Havant and Waterlooville 3-2 at Westleigh Park to make it three wins in a row.

It was the second successive win under Bryan Hughes, and first away from home in the league since October, to keep Wrexham among the National League pacesetters.

The starting line-up showed three changes from the side that beat Dagenham in Bryan Hughes' first game as manager the previous weekend.

Mark Carrington replaced the injured Kevin Roberts at right-back, while Jason Oswell was preferred to Cole Stockton in attack.

The other change was also in the front three with Paul Rutherford coming in for Bobby Grant, who was ill, with Stuart Beavon, who came off the bench to score the winner against the Daggers, also missing through sickness.

Havant had the first sight of goal in the fourth minute with Hassan Jalloh's shot saved by Rob Lainton, while Luke Young's effort at the other end was blocked by defender Tyler Cordner.

However, the hosts took the lead from a hotly disputed penalty in the 15th minute after Brad Walker was adjudged to have pulled down Wes Fogden in the area.

Ex-Wrexham striker Joe Quigley stepped up and sent Lainton the wrong way from the spot to put the Hawks ahead.

The Reds responded with Oswell's header from Paul Rutherford's cross saved by Ben Dudzinski and a Shaun Pearson effort was blocked by a defender after Havant struggled to clear their lines.

There was another chance as Ben Tollitt's effort was easily saved after good link-up play between Oswell and Rutherford, and a counter-attack by Wrexham led to Oswell's shot from Rutherford's pull-back blocked by a defender.

Wrexham were quick out of the blocks when the second half kicked off and Akil Wright put Tollitt through on goal with the winger denied by Dudzinski.

Another Tollitt effort was deflected wide for a corner but Wrexham levelled in the 47th minute.

Luke Young crossed to the back post and Shaun Pearson rose highest to head home.

Wrexham continued to press and Wright's advanced into the area before bringing a superb save out of Dudzinski.

But the second goal arrived on 58 minutes. James Jennings' cross was nodded down by Oswell and Wright slotted past Dudzinski.

Wrexham scored a third goal just two minutes later as Tollitt slid a brilliant pass through for Jennings who scored with an excellent finish.

Lainton pulled off a superb save to deny Alfie Rutherford but Havant pulled a goal back in the 69th minute, Rutherford this time firing past the Reds keeper.

Havant were buoyed by the goal and Rutherford found the side-netting but Wrexham hit back with substitute Chris Holroyd's deflected shot falling wide.

A full-stretch Lainton pulled off an amazing save from Quigley deep into injury time to ensure Wrexham secured another win.
