BRYAN HUGHES says his players face a balancing act as Wrexham head into a gruelling spell of three long-distance away games in eight days.

The Reds begin the hat-trick of road trips with Saturday's clash against Havant and Waterlooville at Westleigh Park.

The match at Boreham Wood, postponed earlier this month because of the wintry weather, has been rearranged for Tuesday with Wrexham also playing away next Saturday against Gateshead.

Hughes, hoping the Wood showdown would have been pencilled in for the following midweek, admits the fixture schedule is not ideal and he has to balance working with his players on the training ground with giving them much needed time to recover in between games.

"We have got a tough week coming up," said Hughes.

"It would have been nice if Boreham Wood would maybe have been put in the week after with the away games coming up but we are going to have to deal with it now.

"The biggest thing for me is the players mentally being fatigued from all the travelling.

"They have got a lot of miles to get in the tank so it is about keeping them focused, giving them as much rest as possible as and when we can, but also getting the quality that we need on the training ground.

"It is going to be a tough week but we are looking forward to it. We are in a good vein of form at the moment, two wins on the bounce now, so we go to Havant full of confidence and hopefully get another good performance."

Third placed Wrexham are just four points behind leaders Solihull Moors with a game in hand.

Other teams are in the title mix but Hughes is focussed on his own side and is not looking beyond the Reds' first away game at Havant.

"We have got to take each game as it comes, that old cliche, but not really be concerned about what anyone else is doing," said Hughes.

"It is all about us, about what we do, how we prepare, how we plan, and hopefully we will be prepared and planned for Havant."

Hughes, appointed manager last Wednesday, is yet to appoint an assistant.

"There are things going on behind the scenes but it would be wrong to give any indication to who I am trying to bring in until it is a definite," added Hughes.
