A TALENTED RGC forward is on the road to recovery after undergoing surgery to repair a serious knee injury.

Dan Owen suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament affliction earlier this season for the Principality Premiership side, ending his 2019/20 campaign earlier than expected after a positive start to the campaign.

Owen came through the Gogs’ thriving Academy system and made his first team debut during his final year as a Sixth Form pupil at Rydal Penrhos School in Colwyn Bay.

His sensational form also saw him earn a call-up to the Wales U18 international squad, where he turned in two exceptional displays to further enhance his reputation as one of the brightest young prospects anywhere in the country.

The flanker signed a new deal with Mark Jones’ men and is continuing his studies at the University of Aberystwyth.

A source told The Journal that Owen’s operation “went really well” and the COBRA youth product is expected back in training for their upcoming pre-season regime ahead of the new campaign.
