DEFENDING champions Cunliffe made up ground on the Welsh Counties League leaders by beating Colwyn Bay Legion 8-2.

Robin Bennett (21-10), Arwel Davies (21-19), Gerwyn Davies (21-7), Ian M Jones (21-4), Mike Riley (21-6) and Graham Rogers (21-7) won for Cunliffe who are up to third, six points behind leaders Min-y-don with a game in hand.

The table-toppers took the aggregate 145-136 to beat Esclusham 6-4 after both teams won four games. Katelyn Rowlands (21-19), Paul Martin (21-15), David A Jones (21-11) and Jeff Cooper (21-16) prevailed for Esclusham.

Gresford Colliery lost the aggregate by just one point and went down 6-4 to Rhos Park after drawing 4-4, Amanda Nicholas (21-11) and Dave Morris (21-14) were top blocks for Colliery.
