MOLD C will have the chance to upstage their A team after they were paired together in the North East Wales League Challenge Cup quarter-finals.

The club's third string secured a place in round three after beating Deeside 10-6, while Mold A were 15-1 victors over Llanferres B.

Mold B, 10-6 winners against Buckley, will face Flint A, who secured an 11-5 victory over Llanferres C, while Flint B's reward for overcoming Denbigh B 14-2 is a clash with Hawarden A, who beat Prestatyn A 9-7.

Holywell A, fresh from their aggregate success over Hawarden B, will meet Llanferres A, who were got the better of Denbigh A by the narrowest of margins.

Turning to league action, second placed Rossett A came unstuck against a rejuvenated Denbigh A, who claimed a 5-3 Division One success.

At third mixed for Denbigh, Wayne Cooper and Katie Owen impressed to clinch a 17/21, 21/19, 21/18 victory over Gareth Edwards and Rachel Twiss.

Denbigh followed that up with another 5-3 success as they got the better of Llanferres A, who saw undefeated player of the match Andy Swash and Sue Clarke combine to beat Jack Comey and Meinir Hughes 21/10, 21/17 at fourth mixed.

Division Two leaders Mold B managed to continue their title pursuit with a closely contested 5-3 success over visiting Buckley.

Undefeated Nathan Barron took the player of the match award for Buckley, and with Greg Jones at second men’s, they beat Mold’s youthful pairing of Liam Hird and James Spendlove 21/18, 18/21, 21/17.

Rossett B won their mid-table clash with Connah's Quay with ease, running out 7-1 winners.

Quay's only winners were Megan Rowland and Suzan Chisholm, who combined to beat Hazel Davies and Toyoko Cornelius 21/19, 21/16.

Llanferres B came agonisingly close to ending Prestatyn A's unbeaten Division Three record, the duo playing out a 4-4 draw.

One of Llanferres' victories came as Sam Harrison and Pauline Brooke-Rankin beat Paul Armstrong and Claire Atmore 17/21, 21/18, 25/23.

Mold C’s promotion hopes were somewhat dashed when, a lady short, they could only force a 4-4 draw against visitors Prestatyn B. Match of the evening was at second mixed between Mold’s Pauline Matsko and Shamanth Moodalbyle got the better of Sarah Jane Wynne and Brandon Smith 19/21, 21/14, 23/21.
