RUNAWAY North East Wales Badminton League Division One leaders Flint Phoenix A flexed their muscles to whitewash rock-bottom Llangollen 8-0

Phoenix, who lead the top-flight by 34 points, were simply too strong for Llangollen, who saw the first men's pairing of Nik Evans and Laurence O'Donnell put up a fight before losing 21/7, 21/12 to Andy Gibbons and Dave Carnelly.

Division Two table toppers Mold B took time out from their promotion challenge to beat Buckley 10-6 in the second round of the Challenge Cup.

Undefeated Lili Thomas was Mold’s player of the match, and with Dan Roberts at fourth mixed, the duo proved too strong for Lachlan Whitley and Helen Evans, winning 21/20 and 21/17.

Prestatyn A's Division Three promotion push was helped along by their 6-2 derby victory over their B team.

Four of the matches went to the best of three games, proving that there is little between the two teams.

Brandon Smith was player of the match, and partnered Sara Jane Wynne to a fourth mixed victory over A team rivals Paul Armstrong and Claire Atmore, winning 16/21, 21/14, 21/14.
