CEFN ALBION have a cup double in their sights tonight - but Mold Alex won’t be heading to The Rock to make up the numbers.

The two teams go head-to-head in the Premier Division League Cup final this evening with Cefn holding the upper-hand courtesy of their home advantage.

But Mold are unbeaten in 18 games, a run that stretches back to last year, and denied Corwen the title by securing a 3-2 home win over their rivals just six days ago.

Cefn, who will be hoping a partisan crowd can roar them on to victory as they look to add the League Cup to the Welsh Trophy they lifted earlier this season, go into the clash in good shape.

Manager Steve Davies is able to call on Jimmy Jones, who missed the midweek 4-3 success over Hawarden Rangers, which saw Callum Taylor bag a hat-trick and Zac Davies add the other goal.

Jamie Foulkes and Jordan Jones are doubts for Cefn, although they appear to be in better condition than Mold, who are definitely without Andy Watkins, Dave Bryan and the cup-tied Nathan Lavender, while Matty Roberts (ankle), Kevin Day (hamstring) and Matty Lewis (calf) are all doubts.

Confidence is high in the Mold camp, however, with boss Mike Cunningham saying: “Last weekend’s result and performance against Corwen sees us going into tonight ready for action.

“There will be no pressure on our lads as Cefn are the home team, playing on their home pitch, in-front of their home fans, so there will be an expectation on them to win.

“Cefn are a very good team and we will have to be at our best to win the game. They have showed with their Welsh Trophy win that they know how to win cup games.

“Our lads have been brilliant the last couple of months and will once again give it their all in tonight’s final.”

Holywell Town were crowned Reserves and Colts League champions on Wednesday after a 7-1 success over Coedpoeth United.

The Wellmen went into the clash knowing that victory would see them crowned champions, and three points were never in doubt as the home side cruised to a key win.

Wayne Edwards (2), Jake Cooke, Ryan Jones, Jay Wilkes, Josh Robertson and an own goal secured the title for Holywell.

Robertson, who grabbed the Wellmen’s fourth goal of the game, said: “It was absolutely unreal from everybody at Holywell Town.

“It shows how hard work and determination pays off every time. Young squad with a winning attitude - up the Wellmen!”

First team boss John Haseldin was also delighted to see the reserves and colts side lift the trophy.

Taking to twitter, he wrote: “Congratulations @eddiebarry50 and the lads, fantastic effort by everyone involved and worthy champions.”
