ANDY MORRISON bemoaned "incredibly wasteful finishing" as Connah's Quay Nomads were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw with Barry Town United.

Jamie Insall, making his home debut, crossed for Michael Wilde to head Nomads into a 30th minute lead, which the hosts failed to extend.

The likes of Michael Bakare, Nathan Woolfe, George Horan, Priestley Farquharson and Wilde all had chances to add to Nomads' tally, but ultimately came up short.

And Nomads were made to pay as Barry snatched a leveller through Jonathan Hood with 20 minutes remaining.

The draw secured second spot for Nomads, who qualified for the Scottish Challenge Cup in the process, but boss Morrison was frustrated by his side's failure to put the game to bed.

"It doesn't matter what level, whether you are playing on a Sunday morning in a park game or you are playing at the very top, you live and die by your finishing," said Morrison.

"Last week we were very clinical, we created five or six good chances and we scored four, this week we had eight, nine or 10 chances and we scored once.

"You feel as though you get that second goal and it could end up three or four-nil, but at 1-0 anything can happen, and it did.

"There's couple of poor decisions again; people have gone short when they shouldn't have done, people have ran off others and we've been punished.

"Give credit to Barry. They've had to hang on by their fingernails and they've managed to find a way back into the game."

The latest draw was the third between the two teams this season, with Barry winning the first encounter at Jenner Park 2-0.

Morrison continued: "They've had one shot on target and scored, and that's been a little bit reflective of us against Barry this season.

"We've dominated them here in the first game and we ended up drawing 2-2 and the game away on television finished 1-1. How we haven't won that I'll never know.

"On the positive side we are playing against a really good team, who are strong, organised and can adapt their game, and we are still managing to dominate them.

"The negative is that we've got to be sharper in that final third and not be so wasteful."

The New Saints moved nine points clear at the top of the table as they marked lifting their eighth successive title with a 3-1 win over Caernarfon Town.

Darren Thomas' cancelled out Kurtis Byrne's opener for Saints, who left it late to secure victory.

Greg Draper and Byrne struck inside three minutes in the final quarter of the game for Scott Ruscoe's men.

Bala Town ended a four-match losing run by clinching a 3-2 success at Newtown.

Steve Leslie and Nick Rushton cancelled out Chris Venables' opener, only for the Bala attacker to make it 2-2 prior to the break.

Mike Hayes popped up with what proved to be the winner for Bala.
