QUEEN’S PARK silenced Welsh National League title favourites Corwen in front of a crowd of more than 250 at The Dunks.

Park boss Dave Evans said: “We finally put our four-year Corwen curse to bed. The lads put in a special performance to come out victorious.”

Matty Williams scored the opener and Corey Smart added a late second to put Queen’s Park (pictured celebrating below) two points clear at the top of the Premier Division.

“Our work rate was first class during the whole match and to contain an impressive Corwen side and deny them a shot on target is an achievement in itself,” added a delighted Evans.

A weakened Brickfield Rangers side failed to match FC Nomads who secured a comfortable 4-1 success.

Tom Williams put Rangers ahead but two goals from Jacob Wise, one from Danny Hughes and a 35-yard screamer from Michael Woodward turned the game around.

Brymbo clinched a 2-0 success over Penycae with strikes from Lewis Clarke and Ben Kearney.

Brymbo boss Phil Hudson said: “The result will set up a massive few weeks ahead in the final stages of season”

Chirk AAA shared a 3-3 draw with Mold Alex who went ahead inside five minutes through Rhys Nash but had Aron Bunclarke sent off for deliberate handball with Louie Middlehurst levelled from the spot.

Mold goalkeeper Elliot Quinlan then saved a second Middlehurst spot-kick bt Chirk went ahead again through Niall Freeman.

Ten-men Mold levelled through Danny Warren and Kieran Price netted their third after Chirk had again gone in front through Joe Roberts.

Saltney Town thrashed Llanuwchllyn 4-1 with midfielder Stephen Chiocchi, scoring two in a three-minute first half spell.

Man of the match Paul Johnson and Jake Johnson put the game to bed before Robert John Kimberly fired a consolation goal.

Rhos Aelwyd are ending their campaign in fine style and beat Rhostyllen 2-0 with Dafydd Robertson and James Haynes grabbing their goals.

In Division One, Coedpoeth eased past Johnstown 4-0 with goals from Andy Griffiths, Olly Lewis, Kev Breeze and Nicky McCormack.

A Connor Whelan penalty and Mitch Williams strike saw Rhydymwyn beat Cefn Mawr Rangers 2-0.

In the only Reserves Division game, FC Nomads sent Chirk AAA crashing to an 8-1 defeat and their marksmen were Jake Sylvester, Luke Muir (2), Lewis Wright, Ben Urquhart (2), Cameron Jones and Tom Bolton.

In the battle of the big guns in the Reserves and Colts Division, the top two sides Penycae and Holywell fought out a 1-1 draw. A Ben Richards first half opener from the penalty spot was cancelled out after the break by Holywell.

A solitary goal from Alan Poole earned Coedpoeth United a 1-0 success against Cefn Mawr Rangers while Llangollen Town defeated Rhydymwyn 2-1.

Andy Steed put the visitors ahead but Jonathan Davies and Simon Williams hit back.

Llay Welfare thrashed New Brighton Villa 6-1 with Kev Hope (2), Adam Colley (2), Dan Richardson and Steve Gadie on the scoresheet. Rhys Peers replied.

Mynydd Isa Spartans went down 4-3 to Ruthin Town. Corey Bellis (2) and Joe Mitchell notched the Isa goals but Ruthin went one better through Owen Cordiner (2), Murray Hughes and Robbie Williams.
