CONNAH’S QUAY NOMADS have bolstered their Welsh Premier League title bid with the signing of former Hibernian striker Jamie Insall.

The move represents a lifeline for the 27-year-old, who has been out of the game for the past two years having failed a UK Anti-Doping test on in 2017.

Insall tested positive for cocaine after a League One match for East Fife in 2015 and was banned from all sports for two years.

After training with the Nomads in recent weeks, he has been snapped up by the Flintshire title-chasers and is set to wear the number 30 shirt pending his international clearance.

Having served his lengthy doping ban, Insall is clearly relishing his return to competitive action in the Welsh league.

Posting on Twitter, he wrote: "Been a long journey, but I’m back. Look forward to helping The Nomads in their quest to win the Welsh Prem and Welsh Cup this year/next. Also excited about a little stint in Europe next year.”

Insall began his career playing non-league football in England for Littleton and Stourbridge.

He swapped the midlands for Edinburgh after signing a three-year deal with Hibs in September 2015.

Successive loan spells with East Fife followed, where he won a Scottish League One Player of the Month award .

He joins a Nomads side currently just a point adrift of the summit with four league games left this term.

And Nomads boss Andy Morrison hopes his latest acquisition can boost his side's push for silverware.

Speaking to the club's website, Morrison said “A big Connah’s Quay welcome to Jamie Insall who has joined us and will add a different dimension to our game.”
