CEFN DRUIDs U19s boss Shaun Colley hailed the character of his side after they clinched the Welsh Premier Development League title.

Trailing 1-0 after just five minutes of Sunday evening’s clash with basement side Newtown, Druids battled back with second half goals from Adam Hesp and Lewis George to clinch a 2-1 victory.

That result handed the young Druids an unassailable seven-point advantage at the summit and the title honours..

Colley said: "As a squad nobody had given us a chance.

"The top four was our objective but we have just kept on improving the players have been relentless in their pursuit of achieving history for the club with a title.

“Thanks to all our opposition, it's been a tough tough league. I'm immensely proud of this squad of players.”

Second-placed Airbus faltered in their title challenge as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat at county rivals Flint Town United.

Oli Lanceley fired home the opener to put Airbus ahead, but Flint hit back with two quickfire goals before the interval to clinch the victory.

Airbus boss Rick Chapman said: "We played really well and started brightly, we created numerous chances but failed to take them.

"We then switched off for two minutes and Flint scored twice before half time.

"Second half we again created so many chances but it just wasn’t to be our day.

"Congratulations to Shaun and all the players at Druids on winning the league.

Connah’s Quay Nomads ran riot in an 8-3 drubbing of Bala Town, while The New Saints were held to a 1-1 draw at Caernarfon Town.

Chirk AAA boosted their Flintshire Junior League U19s title hopes after an inspired second half display at Rhydymwyn.

After a goal-less first half, Zac Davies, Joe Roberts and Niall Freeman scored in a 3-1 win for Chirk. Toby Hughes replied for the hosts.

Brickfield Rangers and Coedpoeth United have games in hand on the leaders and both picked up three points.

Harry Massey(2) and Max Northall scored Rangers’ goals in a 3-0 win Holywell Town while Oliver Lewis, Kyle Stocker-Jones and an own goal helped Coedpoeth to a 3-1 win over Mold Alex.

FC Brickfield hammered Penyffordd 9-0 with James Gregory, Harry Wheeler, Harry Gregory and Nathan Davies all scoring doubles to go with Max Kulbida’s strike.

It ended 1-1 between Llay Welfare Colts and Brymbo Lodge, Ewan Jones cancelling out Dylan Hughes’ opener.
