ANDY THOMAS feels Airbus would be worthy Cymru Alliance champions after their domination of the league this season.

The Wingmakers, who host county rivals Holywell Town on Saturday, will win the league if second-placed Flint slip up at Buckley.

Boasting a healthy 12-point advantage at the summit and the best goal difference in the division, Airbus have already racked up 20 wins from 26 outings this term.

Assistant manager Thomas said: “We’ve been dominant from day one and I don’t think we’ve found ourselves under too much pressure at any stage this season.

“The depth of quality in this squad is the best in the league and I think there’s been really healthy competition for places all season.

“We’re not getting carried away. The league title’s not ours yet and we can’t take it for granted.

"We respect Holywell, who are fighting relegation and won’t make things easy for us.

“They’ll be desperate for the points and it could be a real battle, but we know we’re capable of beating anyone in this division and the lads are full of confidence."

The fixture marks a tough return to action for Holywell, who have been hit by three successive bad weather postponements in recent weeks.

The Wellmen lie 15th in the table and have seven games left to pull themselves clear of danger.

Manager John Haseldin accepts his side will be underdogs, but has called for a ‘brave’ attacking display.

He said: “We’re playing against the team who will win the league, so we couldn’t pick a harder game or tougher opposition.

“They’ve got a very good squad and have had a great season. All credit to their manager Shaughs (Steve O'Shaughnessy) - people say they should win the league with their resources but with that comes added pressure.

“They’ve been the best team in the league for the majority of the season and for us it’s about trying to match their workrate and limiting our mistakes, because they punish teams who make too many.

"We’re underdogs, but we won’t set up to be negative despite our position. I believe in the players we have here now and being brave by attacking teams and that is what we’ll try to do.

“We’ll go there with a ‘nothing to lose’ attitude and hopefully we can get a result. It’s a local derby and again I’d ask our supporters to get behind the lads and make the atmosphere like a home game.”
